Like I told you in the last kanji post I would like to share with you over the next weeks my favorite kanji s. I learnt a little Japanese while I lived in Japan and some kanji s are just stick with me, while others I forget. It is not easy to learn Japanese and especially the kanji s, but I will continue my study here from Iceland.
Second is: Kawa
It means river.
The reason I love this kanji is similar to why I love ame (rain), it makes so much sense when you look at it. It's like you are looking at river flowing :)
This was one of the first kanji s I learnt because I saw it so often on road signs.

I had seen this kanji many times and when someone told me what it means I realized I should have know.
Last weekend we went to a city close to our home (2 hour drive ;) called Onomichi. It is an old city and the landscape is beautiful. The Cherry Blossoms were still in bloom and it was so beautiful. We had a great day together and I am so glad we decided to go :)
This day had it all. Laughter, misunderstanding, good food ...
We don't take a trip in Japan except we get lost at least once. We got lost three times this trip ;) When we wanted ice cream all of the shops with soft cream suddenly decided to disappear. And on our way home Apple Maps made me miss a turn three times so I had to continue for 10 minutes before I could correct it, that was funny (at least now).
Margret was so happy to be able to play so much and be outside in the good weather.
I don't know what we will do next weekend but maybe we will take another trip :)
Yesterday I took a walk at Haji Dam. It is a public park beside a lake made from a dam. It is beautiful and right now all the Cherry blossom trees are blooming!!!
I took a lot of pictures and some I am going to use as a pattern for a quilt. But most of all I was just relaxing and enjoying the view :)
Today I think I might take Margret to another park closer by to play and take a look at more cherry blossoms :)
Today we went to Iwakuni to meet some friends. It was so much fun and we enjoyed it a lot. While there we walked to a famous bridge that I have blogged about before. But today it was espesially beautiful since the cherry blossoms where in full bloom. We walked through a tunnel of trees and Ohhh my God how beautiful.
We watched this sean swim around for a long time, Margret really liked it :)
My friend told me that ehen she was in high-school this place was on her way to and from school every day!! What a beautiful way to bike every day.
Margret is so energetic and I love to go for a walk with her. She loves rocks and trees and usually has her hands full of small rocks and branches after a while. She also loves to climb and if you look closely at this picture you can see that her knees are quite dirty by that point ;) White dress or not, these statues wont climb them selfs!!
Tomorrow we might go for another Cherry blossom viewing, but lets see if it will rain or not. For now, good night :)
I am on fire these day. Just finished the binding on this Kimono mini wall hanging :)
It is a gift for a friend here on Japan.
She loves Kimono and I have gone to her two times for a kimono fitting.
The blocks are 8" squares and I bought the pattern on Etsy from Blossom heart quilts :)
I used up some scraps but I love how colorful and broght it turned out. I am going to gift it tomorrow.
Do you like it?
Last week I met with two of my friends for a lesson in dressing in Kimono. It was so much fun and I tried on two diffrent Kimonos :)
This is a summer Kimono and I just love the yellow belt. I am so lucky, they gave it to me!!
Then I tried on this beautiful red one. And guess what, I got that too!!!!
It is tricky to dress in a Kimono and I am not sure I could do it on my own but I will do my best and I am sure I will find a occasion to wear it sometime :)
We took a walk in the good weather yesterday.
Margret took out her bike. She fell a few times but always stood up on her own and continued. I am so proud of her :)
We looked at all the pretty trees and talk to the neighbors who were fixing up there vegetable garden. Such a good day :)
I just posted a video on YouTube, featuring my favorite things from February, please check it out :)
The day started with a visit to the doctor since Margret has a little cold but it has only gone up since then :)
The weather is getting better and better by the day so today Margret and I took a long walk and played in the forest, such fun :)
Now we are eating Gyoza and planning tomorrow. Plans right now include baking, sewing and invite a feiend to eat a cake withbus in the afternoon :)
