This morning I was in front of the University of Iceland at 6:30 am sharp.
A group of people meet there every week on Wednesdays for a 40 min workout.
I survived my first time and loved it. Everyone was so nice, encouraging me on and giving me high five all the way :)
When I was on my last lap and totally finished I looked up and the Hallgrím's church was surrounded by purple light is was so beautiful. I finished the workout and from the car when I was leaving I took a picture on my phone, it is not very good, but you can still see a little of the purple.
Today is very windy but was okay, with the right people and the right mindset I can do it and I can't wait to go again at Friday, then we meet at Hallgrim's church.
Few days ago I heard about a group that meets twice a week at local landmarks here in Reykjavik for morning exercise. They meet up at 6:30 am no matter the weather or if it is a holiday or what ever. I liked the idea. In the end of the interview the person responsible said it is no excuse to be unfit, "First I will get fit then I will start working out with this group", that's not how it works, she said come to our exercise meeting do it and get fit :)
So this morning I was very responsible, got up at 6 am ate half a banana and off I went. The weather is not really nice this morning but at least it's not raining (or snowing). But when I got there I was no one. WAHT!! They said it didn't matter how the weather is, someone always shows up. Well not this morning. So I did my own little exercise. I used the stairs and then ran around the house and back down in circles a few times. When I got home I did my stretches and went online to try to google this group.
Well I found them and they meet up on Wednesdays and Friday ;)
So now I just have to go again on Wednesday :)
For the first time I walked to work this morning.
I wasn't sure how long it would take me or how long it would take me to get ready for work when I got there, so I went out around 6am :)
It was still dark outside and not many people around but the weather was perfect. Cold but still and everything so beautiful in the autumn colors.
It turned out it is only 3,5 km (2,2 miles).
I will definitely do it again, when the weather is good.
So today is an exciting day at work but then tonight I will go home and finish my Open European Quilt Championships 2016. Looking forward to a good day :)
Today I start work at 11 am so I had a little free time this morning with my daughter.
I went to check on the vegetable garden that have been prepared for us and the plants I am going to plant. I volunteered to plant for my friend as well as the plants came on Thursday, the day before we both went for a vacation, I for a long weekend but she for at least two weeks!
I will have a lot to do tonight when I finished at work and my daughter is asleep :)
So here are a few pictures from this morning. Hrísey really is a Paradise in the North.
When we had checked out the vegetable garden and the plants we went on a mission to find all the different types of flowers that are in bloom at the moment. These are the ones we found, just in our garden :)
We also have rhubarb, I think I will have to cut the flower tonight before I start with the planting so the flower doesn't take all the water and energy form the rhubarb itself.
Finally while my daughter played in the sand I checked our Alaska Willow bush (at least I think that is the name of it). They were cut down a year ago since they were getting way to big and now they are starting to get some little branches on them. We have to keep the grass in check so that the little ones can breath and get some sun light. We have a whole row of them at the end of our lawn.
When I say we of course I mean my parents and my sister, since I am only staying here for the summer in their house ;)
Just finished making my lunch for tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will start my work at the local super market for full shifts. I have worked for a few hours after I have finished working in the kindergarten.
I am finally getting my barrings after the big move and staying a wake longer than dinner time. This month has been a bit though and I have not been taking good enough care of myself. Now it's time to change that again. I have to start building myself up again after the move and the little illness I had in the beginning of the year.
Starting point: meals.
Homemade salad with homemade salad dressing and water :)
Now all 9 blocks have been put together and now on to the nexr step, finishing the quilt top :)
How do you like it? Is there anything you would change? Please tell me what you think in comments or private message, I live to hear what you think :)
In other news I am doing better and feel my energy level rise each day. I still have to take a afternoon nap but I hope in two more weeks or so I will be much better. I am eating liver, red meat and green veggies everyday, anything with some iron in it ;)
These days our town is so beautiful. Everywhere you look there is another stunning view. This morning I took an hour long bike ride around town. I took a few photos on the way, while biking :)
So it was time to get new shoes and yesterday I finally bought new ones.
These were my old ones. Bought in Tokyo in May 2014 and totally ruinned :)
Just what I love in sneakers, black, comfy and a hint of pink :)
Since my calfs are still bothering me and I have to go to the physiotherapist 3 times a week I think it was a good idea to buy shoes that won't keep hurting my feet :)
Autumn is here. The temperature has dropped a little since the terrible heat in August and now we have about 20C at day and 10C at night. Now the temperature is perfect for me.
Today Siffi and I both had Physiotherapy and since Margret still has cough and has to stay at home she came with us.
Margret loves when she gets to come with us to Physiotherapy. There are a lot of diffrent kind of balls to play with and everybody ate so nice to her.
On our way home from Koyo we stopped to buy some clothes for Margret because eveything is getting to small and after the summer only shorts and t-shirts fit her.
So now that autumn task is finished, Margret has some clothes for kindergarden this winter.
Every Autumn I dig up this purse/bag that my grandmother gave me many years ago. My grandmother is a genius in all kind of crafts but mostly with anything to do with sewing. I don't know why every autumn I want to use this bag, maybe the colors?! But I love it :)
finally on our way home we stopped to meet a friend who had a bicycle for me to borrow and I biked home :)
I love it!!!! It is so cute. It is very badic with no gears but that is fine because we don't have many hills around, not with that I will need to bike up ;)
Now I am not just the crazy lady on the GREEN car that walks everywhere, but now I will also be the crazy lady on the ... What color is that? ... Bike :)
In August and September I walked less than 50 km in total. Today I weigh exactly the same as 1st of August.
My knees are okay now. My physiotherapist has worked wonders and now I can even sit japanese style for a while without my knees hurting. But I still have a long way to fo. All my leg muscles are stiff and need alot of work until I can move correctly. My calfs are really stiff and these days they hurt alot. My physiotherapist has banned my daily walks until we get the pain in my calfs under control. Until then I can bike, so when Siffi is back home I will go to the gym to bike a little few times a week.
I feel really good about the way I am working on my physical problems. Working on the source so to speak. If I can get my feet and back in better shape and not so stiff the rest will follow :)
In October I am working on a little project, a challenge really and I look forward to it alot :)
