Saturday morning at Borgó.
2/3 of the family have a bad cough so I decided to make us all a good breakfast to cheer everybody up.
Now I sit with my daughter watching cartoons and wait for an opportunity to get in some sewing to finish my Forest Jelly quilt, well maybe not finish, at least continue a little.
Can you see it? It's a tree :)
Now I only have 7 more to do and then I have my forest.
The block finishes at 15" square and I am going to make a lap size quilt, or maybe a little smaller to fit my daughter's bed.
Last night I managed to cut everything for my new project. It is a quilt for my daughter. The pattern is called Jelly Forest and I found it in a book I bought on Amazon by an Icelandic quilt pattern designer called Gudrun at GE Design. I couldn't find a picture of the quilt online so I can't share it with you now but I will share my progress with you guys here and then of course the final outcome :)
Now I am off to work, this week will be a little crazy since my daughter is starting kindergarten here in Kopavogur and me and my husband have to be with her for the first days. I am just so glad she is starting kindergarten and everything is getting in it's normal routine.
Tomorrow I will be shipping the cushion off to United Kingdom for a Quilt Show. I it signed up for THE GREAT NORTHERN QUILT SHOW in England.
It is a Golden Clover. In Iceland it is a sign of spring and one of our most loved bird.
I designed this paper piecing pattern when I was in Japan and sewed it there on my Japanese Singer sewing machine. It is mostly made with Kona cotton solids from Robert Kauffman.
I am quit happy with it and I think I will just keep it after the show and not sell it,
but we will see.
I plan to make more bird patterns in the future. But I will let this one do for now, I have so many other quilt projects on the table :)
I am so happy that I got my own sewing space again, even if it is just a small corner of the living room. In the next weeks you can expect a lot more posts and pictures than I posted this summer. I can't wait to share with you my next projects, so until then, happy to be back :)
After a summer in Hrísey where I worked a lot and did not do a lot of sewing, or anything else for that matter, I am back in my appartent in Kópavogur, near Reykjavík, with my family.
On our first day at the new house I got a delivery from the fatquartershop :)
Don't you love it? I am planning to make a quilt for my daughter and of course I will share my progress with you here.
These days I am working on a secret project but soon it will be reveeled.
I think this is enough for now. More soon, very soon.
