I have been pretty lazy here on the blog lately. Mainly because I have been working on some secret projects I am entering in some quilt competition this fall. I have designed two projects and one is mostly done the other is scetched and ready for sewing.
In between I like to work on smaller projects so I don't get sick of the big ones :)
Today I made this block which will be a part of a YouTube video I am making and will upload soon :)
This is such a fun block to make and I can't wait to share it with you as well as the finished project I am using it in, a Christmas tablerunner :)
I don't know how often I will be able to blog in April since we are having a problem with our internet but I hope it will be okay :)
Since it is long since I blogged last time I will post these pictures of me and my daughter from last weekend when we were getting ready for a dance party ;)
I am on fire these day. Just finished the binding on this Kimono mini wall hanging :)
It is a gift for a friend here on Japan.
She loves Kimono and I have gone to her two times for a kimono fitting.
The blocks are 8" squares and I bought the pattern on Etsy from Blossom heart quilts :)
I used up some scraps but I love how colorful and broght it turned out. I am going to gift it tomorrow.
Do you like it?
This is the wall hanging I have been working on this week. It is a part of an online class from craftsy.com - Linear Landscape Quilting.
I love this technique because it allows for such depth and detail. The river is quit dark but I absolutely love the bright pink of the Cherry Blossom and the tree line. Here in Japan it is Cherry Blossom season again and I was inspired by that when I chose the colors. I also wanted the rest of the colors to be bright and happy and I think they work well together as a whole. I am so glad I took this class and I will definitely make more quilts using this technique.
I have put this wall hanging up for sale on my Etsy store, if you would like to look at is please click here.
Here you can see some of the details. It was a lot of work but I loved every minute of it :)
Last night after finishing the wall hanging I decided to make this cute Easter Basket. I used a Robert Kaufman fabric from my stash.
I might make more tonight but it depends on if I fall asleep with Margret or not ;)
I finally manged to finish my purple and grey baby quilt. I used the classic Rail Fence pattern and I love it.
The grays and purples work so well together and I just love the cherry blossom print :)
Since the weather today is great I decided to take the quilt outside and take some pictures. I love how well the free motion quilting shows in the sun. It is the first quilt that I finish with a free motion quilting and I am very happy with how my swirls ended up. Not so shabby for a first try :)
Now I have put it up for sale on my Etsy store and you can see it if you click here.
I did do some practice pieces first which you can see down below. I really like free motion quilting. It gives me so much freedom for design :)
Today we took a walk in the neighborhood. We gave an icelandic easter egg to your friends and on our way home I cut a few branches and put in water. I remember my mother doing this when I was younger and how nice it was to see them bloom and remind us that spring was near :)
It is a lot of work but my first mountain in my landscape quilt is ready. I love it, I have put together all the pieces but not I have to stitch all the smaller pieces (blue ones on this piece) in place. That takes time!!!!
I will let you know how it goes :)
I am waiting on some fabric to finish my last quilt so until I get it I am starting a new one :)
It is a Craftsy.com class I am taking on landscap quilts. I can't wait to start. I have already pit the pattern together and now I have to choose the colors. I haven't decided on a color scheme yet but here are some options I am looking at
I will choose later tonight when I have a little pease and quiet.
Last week I met with two of my friends for a lesson in dressing in Kimono. It was so much fun and I tried on two diffrent Kimonos :)
This is a summer Kimono and I just love the yellow belt. I am so lucky, they gave it to me!!
Then I tried on this beautiful red one. And guess what, I got that too!!!!
It is tricky to dress in a Kimono and I am not sure I could do it on my own but I will do my best and I am sure I will find a occasion to wear it sometime :)
We took a walk in the good weather yesterday.
Margret took out her bike. She fell a few times but always stood up on her own and continued. I am so proud of her :)
We looked at all the pretty trees and talk to the neighbors who were fixing up there vegetable garden. Such a good day :)
